Google recently launched a new feature in their Insights for Search tool: a forecast of search patterns and volumes based on past figures. Of course this is mainly for phrases and words that have a definite seasonal pattern, but it also applies to phrases you may not see as seasonal.
Take the phrase ‘online PR’ as an example. In the UK it’s rising steadily, but it seems to have peaks and dips.
So one could plan to have content on page one of Google for that term during the peaks – September 09 and Feb/March 2010. There doesn’t seem to be a similar trend in the US, however.
The interest in online PR here in the US seems to be stronger and rising at a faster . There were 33,000 searches worldwide for online PR in August. 8,100 were in the US.
If you are in the US, practicing PR and you’re not yet up to speed in online PR and new media relations, take another look at that rapidly rising graph. More people search for online PR, online PR services, online PR agencies etc each month.
