Google number one but social media sites are gaining ground

Google drives the most online retail visits- 14.93% – but there is a rapidly growing pool of traffic to be had from social media sites such as MySpace. The number of visits from MySpace to onine retail sites has doubled in the last six months and is now beating MSN Search.
"Search is a proven method of acquiring traffic and Google is the leader in driving online retail site traffic… (but) with the growth of MySpace and others, online retailers should expand their focus beyond search to consider social networking sites as a source of additional traffic," says Bill Tancer, General Manager of Global Research at Hitwise.
