A manifesto from Brian Solis at PR 2.0
While he was preparing for his session on Starting the Conversation at the SMC workshop, Brian produced the first draft of his manifesto on Integrating Social Media into Marketing.
There has been a fundamental shift in our culture and it has created a new landscape of influencers and an entirely new ecosystem for supporting the socialization of information – thus facilitating new conversations that can start locally, but have a global impact.
The evolution of social media is also forcing an incredible transformation in PR and corporate communications – its most dramatic to date; even more significant than the introduction of radio, television and motion pictures.
I agree. The Media Relations Summit held this week in Washington DC is a prime example of how social media is changing PR. Most of the keynote sessions were about how new and social media are affecting the practice of PR. And the feedback I have been hearing from attendees is that they would have liked even more sessions on this topic – and practical workshops on how to implement these ideas.
I co-hosted the new media dinner on Monday night with Marketwire and I also did the breakfast round table on Tuesday morning. Both sessions produced lively discussions and excellent feedback from participants.
i had many requests for resources on social media. Brian’s manifesto is a great place to start.
