Each week I publish interesting items I found during the week.
Tagging Facebook Brand Pages
This week Facebook announced a change that allows one brand page to tag another in a post, just as you tag your friends in a post. It’s a way to extend your audience with a tagged ‘shout out’ to another brand. When you do this your post will be seen by the fans of the page you have tagged as well as your fans. This is not automatically guaranteed exposure – Facebook says it will look to see how closely aligned the audiences of both pages seem to be, when deciding whether to extend one brand’s reach to another brand’s followers. But it is certainly worth a shot.

New App to Help you Track Twitter Trends
If you are watching Twitter trending topics you might find that Twitter’s list can get unwieldy and duplicative. TechCrunch wrote about a new app this week called current.ly. They say it works a lot like Twitter’s own trending topics, but better. Why better? Current.ly tries to show more interesting content and it’s visually compelling. To find out more about a particular topic tap on the top banner and you’ll get a more traditional scrollable timeline filled with the most interesting tweets on this particular topic.
Brands are Experimenting with Snapchat
Brands trying to reach millenials are trying Snapchat as a marketing channel. Like many other brands Mickey D’s is using the new ‘stories’ feature.
From the Snapchat blog:
Snapchat Stories add Snaps together to create a narrative. When you add a Snap to your Story it lives for 24 hours before it disappears, making room for the new. Your Story always plays forward, because it makes sense to share moments in the order you experience them. Your Story never ends and it’s always changing. The end of your Story today is the beginning of your Story tomorrow. And each Snap in your Story includes a list of everyone who views it.
So a brand can tell a story throughout one day, adding to the narrative during that 24-hour period.
