Content Management Systems a must for PR
UIE’s Christine Perfetti conducted an excellent interview with Adaptive Path’s Jeffrey Veen, a recognized Web Design and CMS expert.
In the interview, Veen says development teams need to create a web content strategy that
answers several questions:
1) Why are we generating this content?
2) Who is the content for?
3) What is the current user workflow?
4) How do we get the content into a database?
He makes the point that some content systems can get bloated and unworkable – they were created for document management on a large scale and not for fairly simple web application.
For Marketing and PR people being able to update the news section of a site without learning to be part of the IT department – or waiting three weeks for the IT department to get to your press release – makes a big difference.
The DVCO Online Media Room won the PR Week innovation of the year for creating just such a system.
According to Veen companies are struggling with complex CMS software – and giving up after a year or so in despair.
DVCO’s system works like a dream.
