Small businesses need to learn how to leverage both
Those Yahoo! Small Business survey results prompted me to look into how niche and specialty small businesses were doing in the search game.
Dollhouse Properties put out a press release promoting their new miniature and Barbie dollhouses. Definitely a specialty item – and one that is getting a high number of searches right now.
While they made it into the news search engines on the keyword dollhouse, they were not alone. It’s a competitive field.
And they do not show up in the first three pages of a web search on dollhouse.
So although their website says they are the number one website for dollhouses, if the searchers can’t find their website they’ll be missing all the holiday traffic that is online this year.
With a good web marketing strategy they could change this within six months.
