Email wins yet again. It was rated the most effective and one of the easiest digital PR & marketing tactics in the recent Ascend2 Survey. The survey tapped into 275 marketers ( 66% in the BtoB field) for insights on their goals, strategies tactics and challenges with digital marketing.
The tactic that seems to be giving the most trouble is Social Media. It takes time and attention to the online conversations to do it well. It is after all a social conversation, not a one-way broadcast medium. What you see on the social channels is just the top of the iceberg- it takes monitoring and data mining and using that information correctly in your content and responses to make social media successful. And all that content has to be generated.
The value of social media comes from conversations, interactions, comments and sharing. You have to be there and be actively engaged every day.
Effectiveness & Challenges
Most of the companies polled said that the effectiveness of their digital PR and marketing is improving, but that they still run into some big challenges.
