A very advertising focused event
The Online Media, Marketing and Advertising event at the Universal HIlton yesterday was very advertising focused.
Even the exhibitors were 90% ad based. No blog platforms and just one PR wire service. Although there were two blog sessions and two RSS sessions, the content was a bit of a disappointment.
The first blog session moderated by Pete Blackshaw Of Nielsen Buzz Metrics was good. But you could tell by the questions asked during the Q and A session that the audience needed more specifics.
The second session was billed as a blog workshop. It was a sponsored session. The speaker has been blogging for 6 months, but his presentation was very basic.
Not what I thought it was going to be at all. There are so many excellent speakers who could have done a great job presenting a blog workshop – Debbie Weil and Toby Bloomberg come to mind.
I ran into Bill Flitter of Pheedo at lunch and he said there were questions from the audience in the earlier RSS session that indicated they did not know what RSS was.
I suggested that when he spoke n the afternoon he use my RSS tutorial on the PRESSfeed site.
