It is all about starting the conversation
Doc Searles weighed in on my statements about whether corporate blogs are an opportunity or a threat.
As one of the first people to buy a season ticket on the Cluetrain, I agree that it is all about the conversation.
Of course people like Dan Rather bring disaster on themselves.
USA Today recenlty wrote about the influence of bloggers. The point I was making is that bloggers have on occasion brought a situation to light and made it so visible that it can’t be glossed over or swept under a convenient corporate rug.
Some corporate marketing and PR departments are very wary of blogs and bloggers. Others are embracing it.
Most PR people monitor the environment constantly and now the blogosphere has become part of that environment.
Being more transparent and in communication with your public is always a good thing.
I believe blogs are an incredible opportunity for a company to start that conversation.
