I went to Search Engine Strategies conference this week in Chicago – as a speaker in the online PR track. I spoke about News Search on a panel with Greg Jarboe, Nan Dawkins and Lee Odden.
The online PR track has been expanded, which shows the growing interest in this field. The track covered blogs (of course) and RSS, podcasting, wikis and tagging. And the all-important reputation management session.
I particularly liked the sessions with the news search engines. I should have liked to meet someone from Yahoo News and hear what they had to say too.
One theme I heard in all the sessions – it’s all about the content.
Your search results, online brand value, traffic and leads depends on the quality of your content.
Your reputation is affected by the content that’s being created by others – your customers, competitors and mainstream/citizen journalists.
A content strategy should be at the top of your online PR planning list for 2006.
